Background
The US-based Chubb Corporation is one of the world’s leading insurers. It specialises in commercial property and casualty insurance and in insuring high-net-worth individuals. World-wide premiums in 2007 were in excess of $12 bn. Chubb International consists of the Chubb Corporation’s subsidiaries in Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Canada. Its 2007 premiums were $2.8 bn, 23% of the total.

Responsibilities
I was charged by the International CEO and Worldwide CIO with developing a Management Information strategy for the four regions of Chubb International. This strategy was envisaged as having a central component of leveraging the established and proven MI assets of the European region. In this role I reported to the International CIO.
Major achievement – Development of a strategy to meet International MI requirements
• | Carried out an unprecedented, six-month review of International’s MI needs. Interviewed 100 managers about their business requirements; developed an appreciation of the different markets; and reviewed the technology landscape. |
• | With this substantive background, identified business and technical commonalities and developed a coherent strategy to address urgent issues. The proposal had the establishment of an International MI Competency Centre as its centrepiece. |
• | With European and Asia Pacific IT staff drew up detailed project plans and costings for the leverage of European MI assets in Asia Pacific. |
